A quick video to end the week...

I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things, real life has been full of distractions for the last couple of weeks.  With that said, I'll leave you all with a video from the last City of South Miami commission meeting where we can watch Commissioner Liebman wax poetic about the government shutdown and some other miscellaneous bullshit.

While there's nothing wrong about Commissioner Liebman rambling on about the shutdown, there certainly is something wrong with the rest of his bullshit.  Can anyone out there figure out just how many laws Mr. Liebman broke during his soliloquy?  Watch the video and we'll discuss on Monday...

  1. No comments yet? Come on. Everyone knows a government official can’t use paid government time and a government-owned TV channel to endorse one candidate for an election. Think back to the equal protection clause in 14th Amendment to the US Constitution: “No State shall... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” Right? Government cannot treat people unequally on subjective criteria. Government includes its laws, its employees (an elected official), property (city hall, TV broadcast hardware, software, and contracts), and other resources (tax money to fund all of the above). Go fishing in the Florida statutes, County code of ordinances, and the South Miami code of ordinances. You don’t need a law degree and it’s as much fun as the Herald Hunt. To get started look here: www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes and www.municode.com - It's the weekend, so knock yourselves out for the cause of good government. If you won't do that, then don't complain about the bad government you get as a result.

    2. "However, the SEC found that subsequent city finance directors were unaware of the substance of these discussions or how the lease agreement affected the tax status of the bonds. Moreover, subsequent city finance directors had no previous experience, training, or guidance on disclosure requirement or tax issues in bond offerings. When the lease agreement was revised in 2005 to lease not only the retail space to the developer but the parking garage as well, the updated terms caused the project to be considered private business use, which jeopardized the tax-exempt status of the bonds. South Miami did not inform the FMLC, bond counsel, or any third parties about the project changes. Documents for the second 2006 FMLC bond pool offering contained material misrepresentations and omissions about the use of the offering's proceeds and the altered terms of the parking garage lease. However, the SEC found that subsequent city finance directors were unaware of the substance of these discussions or how the lease agreement affected the tax status of the bonds. 2. Hell that is not the only violation Liebman has committed, during a Ethics hearing on OMC, and while our dear mayor was out of town, Leiebman stated that he in the absence of the mayor and speaking on behalf of the entire city of south miami blah blah blah. Its realy hard at times to make out what this guy is saying, its like listening to rample session??

But any who If Bob Welsh can not speak for the city or its residence without a vote from the commission, who the FUCK gave that Mental rambling SOB the right to do so???

  3. Know what I find funny as hell, A few weeks ago Newman ripped Liebman a new split (in the likeness of a CHERRY on Washingtons Cherry Tree) during the commission meeting where she oust his $90,000.00 track expenditure, and all of this right under the faces of the tax payers who support this man. After the commission break, Liebman comes back to the DIAS and played the ass kisser he is. Hey Liebman, Newman put your ass is check...

  4. How many hits did we get on this post? Is it true that not one of those readers took the time to look up and report back on the multiple statutes and ordinances violated by using government time and resources to endorse a political candidate? Are your readers that lazy, Mr. Strawybuyer?

To the commenter who believes this official committed another ethics violation. Did you report it to the Ethics Commission? Come ON, folks. If you see it, and don't report it, people who break the rules get no pushback. Remember, even an investigation that goes nowhere still acts as a warning that people pay attention and they care.

To the reader who wrote: "who the FUCK gave that Mental rambling SOB the right to do so???" The answer is simple: you did, because you didn't report him for doing it. Apathetic people who see the problems and do nothing to fix them are the reason we have corrupt government.

You can't expect the unpaid bloggers and our few remaining investigative reporters to carry the whole load. This venture is not just entertainment, it's grassroots democracy, and it only works if bloggers and readers work as partners. Lend a hand or pay the consequences; it's that simple.

  5. A few quotes from Edmund Burke:

“Among a people generally corrupt liberty cannot long exist.”

“All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little.”

“All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”
