In a bit of a rush today, so it's going to be short. Some of you may remember the $16mm federal mortgage fraud indictment from last July that we discussed at length on our blog which involved several Plantation police officers and an FBI agent getting charged, their federal trial begins today and is expected to last three weeks. This one is going to be interesting.

FPL: Malignant Actor in Florida … by gimleteye

Should be a simple win for the accused! The case Continues to get weaker. First in the indictment they allege the officers provided false statements to the lenders. Now the cooperating brokers have admitted no one knew and they did this on Many other loans. Of course now the unique position of the government is to change up their possession and state " The officers adopted this false info" that sure a lot different then what they told the grand jury.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I appreciate this blog, why don't we demand the government stop with the smoke and mirror games and go after the banks. An Oscar was won yesterday by a film maker that documented to date not one wall street insider who created this mess has been sent to jail. It's called "Inside Job". The daily business review had a good article about this case. The judge has already reprimanded the AUSA saying they acted with gross negligence and carelessness. Here is what I have learned out of 233 grand jury subpoenas and interviewing hundreds of witnesses all they came up with was the Brokers who are going to testify that everyone knew!
I agree about the smoke and mirrors statement and have said as much several times in the past two years. Regardless, stay tuned, I have some very damaging evidence against those brokers...
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for bringing these stories to light. I no longer go to the herald but local bloggers to get the real news.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to the 300k city employee were those real estate transactions done in city time?
Great question. I'd love to know what time those closings were done as well.
ReplyDeleteVery strange case, it appears this was a Witch Hunt. I took a look at this case and assisted with the investigation for one of the defense early on. The entire thing is BOGUS! They paid the loans back in full on most of the properties. They allege Straw buying now which is different than the indictment. One of the officers and the FBI agent live in their home for over 3-5 years and still pays their Mortgage. Their homes are upside down for last few years and they still pay! The lead investigator was an FDLE agent who was in trouble with local Law Enforcement for beating up his wife. There are many reports in Hollywood PD. There is even a restraining order against him for Armed occupied Burglary which his ex-wife didn't pursue. She stated she didn't want him to lose his pension! So this Agent goes after the cops and admittly ignores all the other loans which the brokers recently destroyed. But these guys did investments like everyone else did during that time. What I reviewed was they submitted real info and the brokers altered it as a matter of practice. Apparently there are some faculty at St. Thomas that was victimized by the same broker and in the same manner as this case, but doesn't want to come forward out of fear of Indictment. The Brokers did this for high yielding commissions of over 15k a loan. They were also named in a Foreclosure action by one of the co-defendants in the case detailing the fraud.
ReplyDeleteIt's a Joke, I hope they walk and make a Mockery of The Feds this time!
Lets hear the eviedence you have I know one of the guys and no way he did anything wrong. one of the good Cops! I hope you provide the eveidence you find. P.s. Love your Blog
ReplyDeleteIn an era of massive government waste, here we have four (FOUR!!!) US Attorneys prosecuting this meaningless case on behalf of the "victim" lenders, countless amounts of FDLE, OFR, FBI and IRS resources wasted.....oh and several of the defendants are being represented by court appointed counsel. That's right, MILLIONS of our tax dollars at work to fight for "justice" while each of these defendants and their families have years of their lives destroyed. For what?
